今天要學的詞組是chill

Chill就是寒冷、冷淡或掃興。Chill這個詞經常被用來形容天氣。

如冷颼颼的夜晚，a chill night。

但是，chill也可以用在其他個方面。北韓進行地下核試驗后，報紙的標題說："North-South Relations Suffer a Sudden Chill." 南北韓的關系突然冷卻。

Chill也可以用在日常生活。兩個鄰居因為吵架而關系冷淡, "There was a chill between the two feuding neighbors." 

一個工程師的項目失敗降低了他被提升的前景, "The failed project chilled the engineer's chances for a promotion." 

裁減工資的消息大大降低了工人的熱情, "The news of reducing pay chilled the workers' enthusiasm."
