我個人非常悲觀厭世。但是每當，舉個例子，我的一位員工有了孩子，你會禁不住祝福他們有個美好的前程。因為我不能告訴那個孩子，“天，你不該來到這個世界上。”可是我知道，世界正朝越來越糟的方向駛去。所以我腦子里帶著那些個前后矛盾的想法，我思考著我該拍什么樣的電影。

I’ve become skeptical of the unwritten rule that just because a boy and girl appear in the same feature, a romance must ensue. Rather, I want to portray a slightly different relationship, one where the two mutually inspire each other to live- if I’m able to, then perhaps I’ll be closer to portraying a true expression of love.

我對不成文的規則變得充滿懷疑，只是因為男孩和女孩出現在同一部戲里，緊接著就必須展開愛情戲、相反，我想要描繪一種稍有出入的關系，兩個人彼此互相鼓舞一起生活的關系——如果可以的話，也許我能更好的描繪真正的愛。

Many of my movies have strong female leads-brave, self-sufficient girls that don’t think twice about fighting for what they believe in with all their heart. They’ll need a friend, or a supporter, but never a saviour.

我的很多電影中，有著強烈勇往直前的渴望，自信滿滿的女孩，對于全心全意的信仰，她們不會再三躊躇。她們會需要伙伴，需要支持者，但是永遠不需要救世主。
